This blueprint pairs with How to Create and Sell a Simple Digital Product After 60. Follow the steps in order. A tight, helpful first product beats a perfect unfinished one.

Educational content only. You are responsible for your own pricing, taxes, platform terms, and claims. Never guarantee buyers specific income results.

Step 1 · Idea validation worksheet

  • What I know well: _______________
  • What people already ask me: _______________
  • Proof people pay for this (similar products or services): _______________

My product idea in one sentence: I help [who] achieve [result] with [format].

Three titles I could test:

  1. _______________
  2. _______________
  3. _______________

Would five people I know want this? ☐ Yes ☐ Maybe ☐ Need to ask — names: _______________

Step 2 · Choose format

  • ☐ PDF guide / short e-book (best first choice)
  • ☐ Printable planner, checklist, or tracker
  • ☐ Template pack (docs, sheets, forms)
  • ☐ Short video course (later, if teaching hands-on)

I choose: _______________ because _______________

Step 3 · Simple layout template

Suggested page outline (PDF ~15–25 pages)

  1. Cover with clear promise
  2. Who this is for / who it is not for
  3. The problem in plain language
  4. What they’ll be able to do after
  5. Step-by-step core content (3–7 steps)
  6. Examples or mini case stories
  7. Checklists or worksheets
  8. Common mistakes
  9. Next steps + how to get help / follow you
  10. About you (short, human, credible)

My 5–7 content steps:

Step 4 · Pricing calculator (simple)

  • Comparable products sell for: $ _____ to $ _____
  • Hours to create (rough): _____ × what my time is worth $ _____ = “effort floor” $ _____
  • Result value to buyer (time saved / money / peace of mind): high / medium / modest
  • Launch price I’ll test: $ _______________
  • Price to test after 10 sales or 30 days: $ _______________

Remember: price the result, not the page count. Printables can be modest; focused skill guides can be higher.

Step 5 · Create & polish checklist

  • ☐ Outline finished before designing
  • ☐ Written in plain language (friend test)
  • ☐ One clear promise on the cover
  • ☐ Headings every section; short paragraphs
  • ☐ At least one checklist or worksheet inside
  • ☐ Exported as PDF; links work; file opens on phone
  • ☐ Friend read it — does it deliver the title’s promise?

Tools criteria: design & selling tools guide.

Step 6 · Launch checklist

  • ☐ Product uploaded to selling platform with clear description
  • ☐ Cover image readable as a small thumbnail
  • ☐ Price and refund policy set
  • ☐ Share link saved and tested on phone
  • ☐ Told 10 people in my warm circle
  • ☐ Posted helpfully (not spammy) in 1–2 relevant groups
  • ☐ Simple way to collect emails for next product
  • ☐ Asked first buyers for a review
  • ☐ Calendar reminder in 30 days to review price and feedback

Launch week dates: _______________

My first sales goal (even 1–3 counts): _______________

Step 7 · After the first sale

What buyers liked: _______________

What confused them: _______________

Idea for product #2 for the same audience: _______________

Package it once, price it fairly, and let it work for you — built on your experience, run at your pace.
